How to Turn Lamps Into Side Tables

    • (2) 1/2" nipple caps
    • Rags or Tack Cloth

  1. Select two old lamps with great architectural shape to them. note: Repeat the following steps for each lamp side table.
  2. Remove all lighting parts except for the main threaded rod (nipple) that runs through the center of the lamp base.
  3. Measure the width of the rod (the featured rod was 1.3cm).
  4. Measure and mark the center of the new wood tabletop.
  5. Drill a hole at the center mark the diameter of the lamp rod.
  6. Slide the tabletop over the nipple.
  7. Mark the nipple .635cm above the tabletop.
  8. Remove the tabletop and cut the nipple on the mark using a hack saw.
  9. Put the tabletop over the cut nipple and secure it to the lamp base by tightening a 1.3cm nipple cap. After securing nipple cap, be sure the tabletop is tight and securely attached to the lamp base.
  10. Lightly sand the tabletop and remove the dust with a damp rag or tack cloth.
  11. Spray-paint the entire table according to the manufacturer's instructions. Let dry completely.
